I have a small server at home that I use for hosting this web site. It's just big enough to host HC // Fun as well.

News and Announcements / HC // Fun and Hotchills down [temporarily solved!]« on: September 20, 2016, 19:10:37 »
HC // Fun is down due to a problem with the VPS. We are working on a solution. Hopefully it will be fixed within a couple of days.
Hotchills will be a bit unstable for a few days. I am upgrading the OS. Edit: The Fws servers are affected as well. Here is a link to the corresponding thread in their forum: http://fwsserver.forumotions.net/t4027-regarding-servers It might contain more recent information. Edit: HC // Fun is back online! I am using a temporary host, so it probably lags more than usual, sorry. 21

Server / Re: Suggestion« on: August 17, 2016, 22:03:24 »
As you already guessed, I am not so fond of replacing the map completely. Using a new tileset requires no changes to the script, so that would be acceptable.
I don't have the time to do it myself, but if someone is willing to do it, please go ahead. If I think the result is good, I will put it on the server. 23
News and Announcements / Server switch [Done]« on: August 01, 2016, 10:59:43 »
There will be another server switch later today, probably. The IP address of the new server will be 151.80.111.205. HC // Fun will be down for an hour.

General Discussion / Re: Question: KDE Software Manager« on: July 30, 2016, 14:12:21 »Can I remove KDE completely and use only gnome?I think so. This discussion, which is three years old but probably still valid, says so. Code: [Select] sudo apt-get remove kdelibs-bin kdelibs5-data Quote from: Mast# There's a way to make me quiet. (Not trustful 100%) Giving me JMod in HC//Fun.Lol, good try, but I doubt it will work. Don't change, Mast#. Your positive energy means a lot for HC. 25

OK, I thought Synaptic was installed by default. It should be fairly simple to install from the command line, though.
Code: [Select] sudo apt-get install synaptic You can have both KDE and Gnome installed. Then you can choose which one to use when logging in. See here, for instance.Code: [Select] sudo apt-get install gnome

General Discussion / Re: How did you discover CS2d« on: July 23, 2016, 21:47:31 »
Still a lot of off-topic, but I am too soft so I will tell you my story anyway. To punish you I have made it really long.
Back in 2008 I was looking for some free, simple, fun multiplayer game to play online. Since I am a Linux guy, I wanted to be able to play in Linux. After some searching I found this site with an extensive list of games. I started going through the list and tried a few ones. There wasn't any interesting, really. But then I found this cute looking game called Counter-Strike 2D. I had played Counter-Strike so it caught my eye immediately. I downloaded it and started playing. Wow! This was really fun! I played on a CTF server for the rest of the evening. I couldn't wait to get up in the morning to continue playing. After a good night's sleep I continued exploring the server list. I joined a random server. It was running in construction mode, but I had no idea at first. What the heck were the other players doing with those wrenches? This wasn't part of the original Counter-Strike. Oh, they are building stuff. How do I do that? The lack of instructions was a slight problem but after some trial and error I succeeded. Cool, I can create stuff! Construction mode had been introduced recently so there were lots of construction servers out there. Many of them used the original DE and CS maps, which have no real objective in construction mode, except building and killing players from the other team. That didn't matter. Construction mode was more hyped than Pokémon Go at the time. After a few weeks of getting my noob ass whipped I discovered the noble art of camping. Camping could really compensate for my lack of skills and it made the game more interesting. Waiting under a tree to ambush unexpecting players that came too close was really fun. For me. The victims were usually not that amused. One even referred to me as a "f*****g camper". Hmm, that sounded quite cool, I thought. If I replace the bad word with "happy" it would make a great nick. Some month after I started playing I began constructing maps. Soon after that I opened my first server, HC // Construction. It ran until end of 2010 when it was closed due to lack of players. Less than two years later I opened HC // Fun. That's my story. 30
The ban was done almost two years ago by Bounty Hunter, but I doubt he remembers it. It's an IP ban and the reason was "Hacking/Cheating". The U.S.G.N., which is different from your current one, was banned 10 minutes before the IP address for the same reason. The U.S.G.N. is banned at Unreal Software as well, since three months ago.
An interesting thing is that the player used the nick "next generation of aimbot" when he was banned. Did you have another U.S.G.N. before your current one? |
