Ok, so I just installed Debian 8.5.0 today. It uses KDE. There's this thing that I don't know how to download new apps on Software Management tool. I have never used Debian or KDE either. I were always on Ubuntu and gnome. Tried google it but without succes. Perhaps anyone uses kde, so he could advise me. It's really annoying to download and install stuff manually with console. Got mad until I found and installed some tools in manual way. Btw, I installed this os on vbox. Anyway, don't think that that has got any influence :-X
KDE version 4.14.2
OS version Linux 3.16.0-4-686-pae

Bouncy, I have read this text many times...Still don't know what is your problem.

I am using Ubuntu as well. Maybe this link (http://www.wikihow.com/Install-Software-in-Debian-Linux) can help you? I guess at least Synaptic should be installed by default.

Will try install Synaptic. I used to get apps on Ubuntu Software Center. There's smth about loading lists of somewhat. Next time will get Debian with gnome.
-
OK, I thought Synaptic was installed by default. It should be fairly simple to install from the command line, though.
sudo apt-get install synaptic
You can have both KDE and Gnome installed. Then you can choose which one to use when logging in. See here (http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/269392/debian-how-to-revert-back-to-kde-after-switching-to-gnome), for instance.
sudo apt-get install gnome

Can I remove KDE completely and use only gnome?

I think so. This discussion (http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=102884), which is three years old but probably still valid, says so.
sudo apt-get remove kdelibs-bin kdelibs5-data

Lol, good try, but I doubt it will work. Don't change, Mast#. Your positive energy means a lot for HC.
